I am researching the pedagogy of extended technique for the clarinet. As part of this project I am working with a number of Canadian composers to develop a set of pieces each of which foregrounds one extended technique. These pieces will be performable by the average undergraduate or an advanced high school student, but will be of musical interest to all performers, teachers and audience members. The pieces will not only introduce extended techniques but also promote Canadian composers and Canadian music. These are the composers that are participating in this project, the techniques they are using and the titles of the finished works:
